A visit to Centre Pompidou

Pompidou is a modern-artmuseum in Paris, and just the building is interesting in itself with these huge pipes going all around it. I am not really a big fan of modern art, most of the time i am just unimpressed by it, but sometimes there are a few golden nuggets in that muddy river of artsy-fartsy.

There were a few pieces that i really liked in this place and they also had lots of pieces by superstars like Picasso and Mattise.

Niki de Saint Phalle
I really liked these two huge figures. From a distance their size and character were overwhelming, but up close there was even more to see with all the details made out of toys and dolls and all kinds of stuff.

A projected video in slow motion of a naked body spinning a hula-hoop, made out of barbed wire, around it's waist. As the video progressed it came up closer to the waist and you could clearly see how the skin had been damaged from this "exercise". I kinda liked it, actually.

Well, someone has to do the vaginas, right? And as it is written in the detail of the last painting, and as seen in magnitude of these pieces depicting sexual organs, size DOES matter!(?)

Picasso
These are just a few of the Picasso pieces at Pompidou. I must admit that i find Picasso as a person a lot more interesting than his art. But still, me being a small town boy, i can't help but being star-struck.

Matisse
No comment...

George Grosz
This one was hiding in a corner. Never heard of the artist, but then again i really don't know much about art-history. I did like it, though.

Francis Bacon
Bacon... Check!

So... I'll just top this post off with some more pics.

Boots galore

A real fashionista knows the true value of sexy boots, and today we passed by a second hand/vintage shop with lots of overpriced clothes and here is a few items i wish to share with you.

1. The happy mexican

Yeah, these ones are best combined with a few rounds of tequila and are guaranteed to land you a senorita or two.

2. The sober classic

Not as daring as the previous ones, but still a dashing pair of boots that adds that special sophistication and mysterious-cowboy-stranger flavour to your overall look. Combine these with a dusty horsepoop-scented perfume and you are on fire.

3. Die gestapo

Not everyone can pull this look off. Die gestapo is, without a doubt, the most risky and demanding model out there. If you don't have the the stern and disciplined personality to match the character of these boots, then you'd do best to stay away.

Passing by galleries

So today we were walking in this area that had lots of small artgalleries, but of course they were closed because it's sunday. I'll go back in a few days and get a closer look at some galleries. Here are some pics of what i saw.

Come hang with me

Maybe the subject of a new painting?
This store was macabre. All kinds of dead and weird things. If i didn't need to save the money, i'd be going crazy in this store.

A bargain?

Winterboots wasn't really working in this weather, so i had to go and hunt down some cheap and apropriate shoes. I ended up with these ones. It's dc-shoes and it was the last pair in the store, lucky enough they also happened to be my size. Oh, and they were at half-price! Ugly or fugly?

Paris

Winter is a joke here. Left sweden in a blizzard and arrived yesterday in Paris with sunshine and 12 degrees celsius. Today is a bit cloudy, as u can see, but it's still a very pleasant climate. I also got to see some art today, but i'll post something about that at another time.
